"Chanel"

A LETTER FROM CHANEL
"HI love my new home! You definitely made the right decision, I absolutely adore my new mom!  She needs almost as much attention from me as I do from her, so we're a  great match. Most days,  she stays home and does homework. If she's not  paying enough attention to  me, I like to go flop down on her books, so she can't work, but she doesn't  seem to mind, and always takes a break to pet me.  Most of the time, though,  I just curl up in her lap, or sleep on the table  where she's working, to keep her company. My favorite time is early in the morning before anyone else gets up. My mom feeds me, makes herself some coffee, then combs and brushes me FOREVER while  I'm eating or just walking around purring. It is heavenly! Then we always  take a half hour or so to talk and play with my  favorite toy (Bloomingdale's  bag handle, of course). I am enjoying my new food (Hill's Light) and seem to  like it better than my hairball stuff. I also like Fancy Feast, but for some reason, I don't seem to enjoy the fish dishes as much as the chicken,  liver, etc. Hmmm....maybe  it'll pass.  Late at night, after my mom is in bed, George likes me to lie with him while he watches TV. He has a very stressful job, and seems to relax a lot when he  pets me. I relax around him, too. I love George.  Then, when he goes to bed, I sleep with my mom and him. Nik (the roommate) is moving soon, but he loves to  pet me, too, and consequently, I like him a lot. My favorite pastime (besides napping) is looking out the windows. I also  have a "friend" (well, we're kind of hissing buddies  right now, but I think we're warming up to each other), who likes to walk around in the back yard.  The only thing that scares me here is the vacuum on  Mondays when the maids come. But, I have burrowed out a secret hiding  place inside the lining of my  mom's boxspring, so it doesn't bother me too much.  All in all things are fantastic! Thanks for being a great foster mom and  finding me a perfect home.  Love, Chanel

"Spike & Tyke"

spiketyke.jpg (24997 bytes)

"Here are pictures of Spike and Tyke.  I adopted them in January.  Look how they have grown! When Lisa brought them to my house, there wasn't time to hear the story of how they were found.  Could you take a moment to send a return e-mail and tell me about it? Thank you for being there to save these precious animals.  You are doing a wonderful service to the community.  In my case, you helped to mend a broken heart to boot!  I had just lost my dear companion of 18 years, Bingo.  I saw these "twins" at Shenandoah and knew we needed one another.  God bless you and your volunteers."

"Amanda & Bailey"

F&F did a rescue from the Joan Ray cattery in LA Puente of oriental shorthairs.  Barbara has just lost her very elderly Siamese and wanted the companionship of her favorite breed.  We showed her eight cats - Amanda, was shy but very affectionate.  Bailey, a tri-pod was shown even though we weren't sure if he was ready for adoption yet.  She fell in love with Amanda and Bailey.  It took a little coaxing to get Bailey's foster parent to let him go - but they are so happy and loved!  We get frequent updates on their lives!

Katie & Jake"

Katie was found by one of our board members VERY pregnant.  Since Katie had an upper respiratory at the time, it was impossible to give her an abortion.  All of a sudden there was Jake.  Linda adopted both mother and son from us - and they are doing wonderful.  Linda says Katie adores her little Jake.  She sleeps with her arms wrapped around him..

"Julie & Teddy"

Julie (the black kitty) was adopted by Wendy and her daughter five years ago this Christmas. After they adopted Julie, F&F was looking for a foster home for a VERY shy Russian Blue mix, Teddy. Wendy opened her heart - and fell in love and so did Julie. It took a lot of patience because Teddy was so skittish, but five years later, he now plays with cat toys.  Teddy and Julie are inseparable.
"Sabrina"

Sabrina.jpg (16765 bytes)

Sabrina was found nursing her kittens on a doorstep of an apartment close to a very busy road.  Her humans had recently moved and left the new family behind.  The new tenant was instructed to take them to the landlord.  However, he didn't have the heart, and found Felines & Friends instead.  All the kittens were placed, but Sabrina refused to leave the comfort and security of the office where she was fostered.  She now lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico and is very diligent about monitoring all the computer printers in the office.

"Betty & Wilma"

Betty_Wilma2.JPG (79835 bytes)

Betty and Wilma were adopted from F&F as kittens and  returned 4 years later because of some unfortunate family circumstances. It took over a year to find a new home for these darling sisters, but they now live with their new mom in West Hollywood and enjoy watching the birds at the feeder she installed for their amusement.

"Lara"

Lara.JPG (118043 bytes)

Lara was rescued in 1997 from a colony of ferals near LaBrea Avenue. She was very sick and had to be nursed back to health. Most of the colony has
since died. Her twin brother was placed in a loving home almost immediately in the San Fernando valley. However, Lara has remained a
"social feral" and will watch human activity from a short distance. She now lives with Sabrina in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

"T-Bird"

T-bird lives in West L.A.with a family whose previous Siamese mix lived to the age of 24. His little boy loves him and the two can often be found curled up together. During the day, T-Bird likes to help his "mom" with her graphic-design business and delights in lounging across the computer keyboard when in use.

"Willie & Kelly"

Willy-Kelly.jpg (6533 bytes)

Willie was forced to live outside by his elderly owner, so he decided to move in with a neighbor, who kept him until she returned to college in New York.  She didn't want to make him live outside again after being an indoor cat for 2 years, so we found him a home with a family in Calabasas whose little girl had been wanting a kitty for her birthday.

"Chipeeta"

Chipeta.jpg (13661 bytes)

Chipeeta is living happily near Beverly Hills with her
foster mom who decided she couldn't give her up. She has adjusted to the other two cats and two dogs in the family.

"Yuki"

Yuki.jpg (14201 bytes)

Yuki is one of Chipeeta's kittens. He and the
littermates were born under some bushes and nobody knew about them. When Chipeeta was
brought to Felines & Friends we were told she was found outside bleeding. Realizing that she had kittens somewhere we told the rescuer to look for them. All but one survived the ordeal. Yuki lives in Granada Hills and has a brother in Tarzana and a sister in Pismo Beach.

"Holly - BKA Rainbow Sparkle"

Holly4.JPG (96338 bytes)

Holly was abandoned at a City shelter by her family who claimed she attacked them. She was rescued but was sick from her ordeal. Her foster mom nursed
her back to health and she eventually found a loving home with a family in Topanga. She has taught their older cat to play again and loves her little girl, who renamed her Rainbow Sparkle.

"Rosie"

rosie.jpg (22352 bytes)

Rosie was given to F&F by a person whose neighbors asked him to keep her for a week while they moved. Over a year passed and they never came back for her. Due to his work schedule, he felt she deserved a better home. She now lives in Beverly Hills with a lovely mom who is home most of the day and
adores her.

"Antony"

"Cleo"

cleo.JPG (109840 bytes)

Antony was found wandering the parking lot of large apartment complex in the Hollywood hills. His rescuer already has 3 F&F cats and a dog, so asked us to place him. Around the same time Cleo was rescued, so we introduced them at one of our adoption days and they bonded like brother and sister. Later that same day, they were adopted as a pair in live in a spacious house with two other cats near Beverly Hills.

"Abby with Miles"

miles_abby.jpg (22339 bytes)

Abby and Miles
Abby (aka Taxi) went to live with Miles as a foster cat after she was abandoned the day before her human got married! It took some time, but the two cats eventually bonded and now live with their mom in
West Hollywood.
