Charlie
and Rose were found, abandoned, in the backyard of a
Nursing Home
in West Los
Angeles. No one knows how long they had been there.
Poor Rose had been nursing puppies and neither dog had been
spayed or neutered. They were thin, terribly frightened and
very cold, but they had each other and they are very
bonded.
The nuns at the Nursing Home
called the Shelter and the dogs were picked up. One of
Felines & Friends' volunteers does some work at the Nursing
Home and she happened to be there when the Shelter came to
get the dogs. The poor little creatures were SO frightened
and the capture was very dramatic.
The Shelter immediately separated them, as neither
dog had been altered. That, alone, must have been awfully
traumatic for them. The very moment they were available for
adoption, our Felines & Friends volunteer went to the
Shelter to get them, so they could remain together for the
rest of their lives.
According to our vet, the dogs
are between 10 months and 1 year old; and it is believed
that they are not littermates -- but probably "mates." They
adore each other. The moment they realized they were safe,
they got over their fright and so enjoy being petted and
caressed. They love to sit in your lap and give "kisses" to
your nose. They are very smart and learn quickly. Charlie
and Rose would make wonderful companions -- they love to be
fussed over and they love being with anyone who cares about
them.
They are now spayed and
neutered, have had all their shots and are looking for
someone who wants two wonderful little darlings to keep
forever!
